Our Involvement in the Tourism Industry

Visit Central Delaware is committed to furthering our knowledge on the dynamic travel and tourism industry and keeping up with industry trends and standards.

Certified Tourism Ambassador Program (CTA)

Visit Central Delaware proudly offers front-line workers a certification through our Tourism Ambassador Program. Maintaining this certification benefits the visitor, the industry, the local economy, and most importantly, the front-line worker, who turns every visitor encounter into a positive experience!

Anyone who lives or works in Kent County can complete the program and receive the credential and accompanying initials to use behind their name to signify the commitment to their profession and our community as a Certified Tourism Ambassador™ (e.g., Jim Smith, CTA).

As an Accredited Provider, Kent County Tourism presents the official CTA designation on behalf of the Tourism Ambassador Institute®, the overseeing body for the certification program. The curriculum is delivered through reading assignments and in-class participation. For $30 participants take a half-day course and an open-book exam to become a CTA.

Register today at CTA Network. Create an account, fill in the enrollment form, and select Delaware, then KENT COUNTY. Once that is done, you will see a list of our classes that are currently open for enrollment. For your reference, here are the upcoming session dates:

What is a Tourism Talk?

Tourism Talks

Tourism Talks are free to attend and are a great opportunity for hotels, attractions, museums, restaurants and other hospitality related businesses to get together with Kent County Tourism staff and hear what we’re working on to attract more visitors, learn more about tourism topics affecting Kent County, learn from each other about ways to improve visitor experiences, and share any news about your organization like events, meeting spaces available, any challenges you’re facing, etc.

We encourage all of our community partners to attend! It’s a great opportunity to network with other community partners and figure out what’s going on in your own backyards. Some of our past Tourism Talks have been held at DE Turf Sports Complex, Air Mobility Command Museum, and Delaware Public Archives to name a few.

Sound like something you’re interested in hosting or attending? Contact Catherine Jenkins, Marketing & Communications Manager at [email protected]
